Get to know each other and find out who is due when! This session then covers what to expect through late pregnancy and the different choices you have for where to have your babies. You’ll learn the signs of labour, and the different stages your body goes through from first contraction to delivering the placenta, and some all important coping techniques.

Session 2 builds on your knowledge of birth and covers pain relief options, induction of labour and the alternative modes of birth including caesarean births and assisted vaginal births.

After the birth your baby has arrived- but now what?! This is a practical, fun session to learn all about your upcoming new arrivals. Learn what newborns look like, what they need to wear, why they cry and how to manage it, and how to put them to sleep safely.

Learn about all the ways to feed your baby- breastfeeding, expressing breastmilk and formula feeding. Then delve into the early postnatal period- what to expect after baby is born in terms of physical and emotional changes and learn how to take care of each other during this time.

An informal social opportunity to get to know each other before your babies make their entrance. Splitting into pregnant mums-to-be and partners/ birth partners groups for ‘Ask the midwife’ sessions gives a final opportunity for all your niggling questions to be answered. Celebrate your graduation from the course with each other and feel empowered and ready for what is to come!
